A road trip and an easy trek in the mountains can be a great way to enjoy the beauty of nature, have some adventure, and make some unforgettable memories. Here’s sharing proposed plan:


Date of event: November 5th, 2023 (Sunday).


Plan for Proposed Road Trip and a trek, Mumbai to Korigad:

6:00 am to 09:00 am: Mumbai to Lonavala via Old Highway (3 hours)

Breakfast at Lonavala Near Shivaji Putla (Lonavala Market) 

09:00 am to 09:30 am Meeting at Lonavala, (Parking Area, Lonavala Station, near Shivaji Statue).

10:00 to 10:45 am Drive from Lonavala to Korigad base village.

11:00 am to 03:30 pm Korigad  Trek (Packed Lunch at Korigad Fort).

Chai at Lion Head

6:00 pm to 8:30 pm: Return Road Trip from Lonavala to Mumbai


Contribution for trek:

Booking Amount: Rs.400/- per person (Inclusion: Mountain Guide; First Aid; Other trek related expenses).

 

Transport (Self Drive, in own vehicle); No contribution required.

Travel Pool contribution for fuel, Rs.750/- per person.

Note: If we have sufficient people interested in hiring a Mini-bus and travelling by it we will inform you about the contribution required for the same.

 

Exclusion:

Meals (Carry packed lunch / snacks; breakfast everyone pays for their own breakfast at restaurant).

Any kind of insurance is not included.

Travel is not included (it is a self-drive road trip).

Shopping; Tips etc not included

Korigad is a hill fort near Lonavala in Maharashtra, India. It is a popular destination for trekking and camping enthusiasts.

How to reach: You can reach Korigad by road (car), train or air. The nearest railway station is Lonavala, which is well connected to Mumbai and Pune. From Lonavala, you can take a bus or a cab to Peth Shahapur, the base village of Korigad fort trek. You can also rent a bike from Pune/Mumbai/Lonavala and enjoy the scenic route through dense jungles and waterfalls.

Difficulty level: Korigad fort trek is an easy level trek, suitable for beginners and all age groups. It takes about an hour to reach the top of the fort from the base village. There are stairs and well-paved paths along the way2.

What to see: On the top of the fort, you can see a small lake, three temples, and some cannons. You can also get a stunning view of the Aamby Valley city and the nearby Tung and Tikona forts3. The fort is also rich in history and culture, as it was built by Shivaji Maharaj and later captured by the British2.

When to visit: The best time to visit Korigad fort is from September to December, when the weather is pleasant and the surroundings are lush green. During monsoon season, the fort becomes more beautiful but also more slippery and risky.
