Event - One Day Trek to Gambhirgad (The Mystery Fort)
There is a local legend, you can only reach summit of Gambhirgad if Gambhir Baba has called you.. The first time we tried the event was marked with loads of adventures, that included flat tyres, bus getting stuck in pit, and we almost scaled the summit but not quite there..
Second time we did scale the summit but not before we had our set of challenges and adventures.. we climbed from a very difficult side of the mountain, it had a very steep gradient, almost 70 degree, with loose, slippery scree and falling boulder to add to the challenge. But determined we finally made it to the summit, perhaps Gambhir Baba was impressed by our persist ency and determination..Difficulty Grade - Medium

It takes around 2 hours to reach the fort from the base village Patilwadi.

The Place
Gambhirgad (2252 ft.) is a double rigged mountain. Like every conspicuous mountains this one stands tall on a huge plain keeping the union territory of Dadra and Nagar haveli to its north and Maharashtra to its south. So strategic is its location that the Maharashtra gazetteer uses the fort as a landmark to demarcate the border between the state and the union territory.
Gambhir in Marathi signifies 'serious'. Thus, Gambhirgad and its surroundings areas indicated by its name very 'serious'. Arranged in Thane area and on Gujarat border, it is presumably the last fort in Thane district.
Approaching the fort, first achieve the level which is the machi of the stronghold. It has part of the uncontrolled development of wild plants. There is not much of fort left on the top, some nice viewing spots, a lovely water tank along the path.
The water is usable you can use your safety rope and a small bucket to take out the water. Moving further, we achieve stairs. The trip further is such that we need to move with a bluff on our privilege.
One can surely see proofs of now wiped out drape fortification. We descend by this side. On route down, we can see 2-3 water tanks. Some little apexes on the way likewise get our consideration. One and half hour is sufficient to see the fort. Mahalakshmi pinnacle and forts specifically Asheri and Adsul are noticeable from this fort.
